The rules of the road for Legend Guide — what we do, what you do, and how money moves between creators, contributors, and the platform.
Legend Guide is operated by Rock Garden Inc. ("we", "us"), a company headquartered in the State of Utah, USA. "Legend Guide," the site at climb-intel.fly.dev, legend.guide, and any related apps are collectively the "Service."
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. If you're using the Service on behalf of an organization, you're telling us you have authority to bind that organization.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. Some features (paid purchases, payouts) require you to be 18 or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
The Service lets you create, post, and share content — routes, entities, guides, comments, photos, videos, and more (collectively, "User Content"). You keep ownership of your User Content.
You grant Rock Garden Inc. a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and create derivative works of your User Content for the limited purpose of operating, improving, and promoting the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we need to retain it for legal, safety, or payout reconciliation purposes.
You represent that your User Content is yours to post and that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights, defame anyone, or violate any law.
We do not sell your User Content to third parties or use it to train foundation models. We do send content to third-party AI providers (Anthropic, Google, OpenAI) for inference — things like moderation, search embeddings, and Dispatch answers. These providers' processing terms are linked in our Privacy Policy.
The Service exists to make contributors the economic protagonist of outdoor data. Here's exactly how money moves.
A tip is a one-time, non-refundable payment from one user to another.
A paid guide is a one-time digital purchase that unlocks the full content of a guide.
Stripe takes their cut first. Then: tips split 90/10 (creator/platform). Guide sales split 65/25/10 (creator/attribution pool/platform) — and if nobody else's work is cited, the pool goes to the creator, making a solo guide roughly 90/10. The pool is divided by how substantial each cited contribution is. (Updated June 12, 2026 — the pool was previously 10%, divided evenly.)
Earnings accumulate in your "creator balance" ledger inside the Service. During the current launch phase, payouts are manual:
We're working on Stripe Connect for self-serve payouts. When it ships, your ledger balance will migrate with no loss. Until then, the ledger is a record of what you've earned, not a guarantee that funds are instantly withdrawable.
You're responsible for any taxes on money you earn through the Service. We may issue a Form 1099 (US creators) or equivalent when thresholds are hit; you'll be asked to provide tax information before payout.
Don't:
We moderate User Content with a combination of automated systems (AI) and human review. We may remove content, suspend accounts, freeze payouts, or terminate access at our discretion if we believe someone is violating these Terms or creating risk for others.
If you think your content was removed in error, reply to the moderation notice or email hello@legend.guide. We'll review.
Copyright owners may send DMCA takedown notices to dmca@legend.guide with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). Repeat infringers will be terminated.
Climbing, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities are dangerous. They can cause serious injury or death. The Service hosts user-generated beta, conditions, and route information that we do not independently verify. Conditions change. Gear fails. People make mistakes.
You are solely responsible for your own safety. Verify conditions, route difficulty, and approach information with multiple sources, local rangers or guides, and your own judgment before heading out. Use the Service as one input, not the last word.
The Service, including the Legend Guide name and marks, the software, and the design system ("Waystation"), are owned by Rock Garden Inc. or our licensors. These Terms don't transfer any of that to you.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of outdoor information. We don't warrant the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Rock Garden Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or lost profits, arising out of or related to the Service — whether based on contract, tort, or any other theory.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rock Garden Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents, from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your User Content, (b) your use of the Service, or (c) your violation of these Terms.
You can stop using the Service any time by deleting your account. We can suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you've violated these Terms or if we stop operating the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (IP, liability, indemnification, disputes) will survive.
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we'll give at least 30 days' notice via email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be submitted to binding arbitration administered by JAMS in Salt Lake City, Utah, under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. You and Rock Garden Inc. each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. Small-claims disputes may proceed in court.
